1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using PDFtoMD ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and anyone who accesses or uses the Service.
2. Description of Service
PDFtoMD is an AI-powered tool that converts PDF documents into Markdown format. The Service is available at pdftomd.cloud and is powered by Claude AI from Anthropic, Inc.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time, with or without notice. We will not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation.
3. User Accounts
To use the Service, you must create an account by providing a valid email address and a password. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this requirement.
4. Free and Pro Plans
The Service is offered under two plans:
- Free Plan: Includes 3 PDF conversions per calendar month at no cost. No credit card is required.
- Pro Plan: Includes unlimited conversions per month for a recurring subscription fee. Current pricing is displayed on the Pricing page.
We reserve the right to adjust plan features and pricing with reasonable notice.
5. Payments and Billing
Payments for the Pro plan are processed by Stripe, Inc. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis. All fees are billed in advance and are non-refundable, except as required by applicable law.
You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you retain access to Pro features until then. No partial refunds are issued for unused time.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Upload files that contain malware, viruses, or harmful code
- Upload files containing illegal content or content that infringes third-party intellectual property rights
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise access the Service in an unauthorized manner
- Circumvent usage limits or share account credentials with others
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of applicable laws
7. Intellectual Property
You retain all ownership rights to the PDF files you upload and the Markdown output you receive. By uploading a file, you grant us a limited, temporary license to process it solely for the purpose of delivering the conversion service.
The PDFtoMD brand, software, and all associated intellectual property are owned by us. You may not copy, distribute, or create derivative works based on our platform without our express written permission.
8. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review it to understand how we collect and handle your data.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, reliability, or availability of the Service, including the quality of conversions produced by the AI.
AI-generated output may contain errors. You are responsible for reviewing converted Markdown before use in any critical context.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PDFtoMD and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the three months preceding the claim.
11. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at our sole discretion if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct we determine to be harmful to the Service or other users. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation or, if necessary, binding arbitration.
